The former Executive Chairman of Orsu Local Government Area, former Commissioner For Tourism and incumbent Special Adviser to the Governor on Livestock Development ,Hon Chief Dr Cyril Odinaka Okafor (CYMPOK) has described the people of Akwakuma Autonomous Community as good hosts and accommodating people who make strangers living among them to feel comfortable and accommodated, adding that the land of Akwakuma has made him successful in business and politics where he has attained various big positions in government and thanked the traditional ruler,Eze David Onuegwunwoke and the entire people of the community for being friendly and supportive to him and others living in their Community.
Hon Okafor made the assertion penultimate Monday, January 1st 2024 when the people of Akwakuma Autonomous Community in Owerri North Local Government Area honoured him with an Award on the occasion of launching for their Ultra Modern Civic Center held at Akwakuma Community square.
Whilst calling on the former Executive Chairman and renowned Community pharmacist to come forward for his Award, the spokesman of the Community said that Chief Okafor is friendly, Community development driven and a successful investor who owns successful businesses that flourish in their Community and. has utilized same to provide employment, services and impacted positively on the host community.He said that they deemed it necessary to use the auspicious occasion to honour him with an Award and through that encourage him to continue with the good work he is doing.
The recipient,Chief Hon Cyril Okafor (CYMPOK) whose citation was read by Sir Livy Unigwe,a foremost broadcaster and retiree from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was called to receive his Award which was presented to him by the Traditional ruler of Akwakuma Autonomous Community,His Royal Highness,Eze David Onuegwunwoke.The Royal father whilst presenting the Award,Congratulated Chief Cyril Okafor on the meritorious honour bestowed on him by the Community.He urged him to sustain the tempo as his good work and positive impacts have made him loved and appreciated by all and sundry.
In his acceptance speech, Hon Chief Cyril Okafor thanked the traditional ruler, Eze David Onuegwunwoke and the entire Akwakuma Autonomous Community for finding him worthy of such prestigious Award on a New year day.He acknowledged the hospitality of the Community as good hosts and promised to continue to contribute to the development of the Community.He donated the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand Naira towards the construction of the Community’s Civic Center.
Meanwhile,Chief Dr Cyril Odinaka Okafor (CYMPOK) who was accompanied to the event by a galaxy of top political leaders from Orsu Local Government Area, also had the Member representing Orsu State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly,RT Hon Engr Uche Agabige in attendance.The ranking House of Assembly Member who was excited and full of appreciation for the honour done Chief Okafor spoke glowingly of the recipient and described him as one of finest political leaders Orsu ever produced.He thanked Akwakuma Autonomous Community for being good and friendly hosts and donated the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand Naira to the Community in support Chief Cyril Okafor.
Amongst other dignitaries honoured by the Community was the Deputy Governor elect of Imo State,Lady Ihuoma Chinyere Ekomaru,who was accompanied by her husband,Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru SAN to the event.
